We recommend that you start getting acquainted with the property market and finding the right neighborhood to live in approximately 3 months before you have to move. It’s good to get an idea of the vibe of the neighborhoods, the property prices in those areas, approximate commute times and distances to your work or schools etc.
If you are planning on staying in a condominium, we also recommend creating a shortlist of the condominiums. However, it’s good to keep in mind that the exact availability of units in a particular condominium will vary and you will only have a better idea about 1-2 months before your planned move-in date.
While some landlords will accept contracts with your move-in date being 1-2 months away, this will impact your negotiating position since the landlord will have to keep the unit vacant (If it’s not occupied already).
