Nestled handily between Holland Village and Orchard, Tanglin is a quiet but sophisticated neighborhood. Characterised by some seriously grand houses, foreign embassies, and stunning greenery, the area has an aura of elegance and exclusivity.

Easy access by public transport. There’s no easily accessible MRT nearby, and bus services can be a little patchy.

Tanglin is home to many embassies and is considered to be a prestigious area, with many of the Singapore elite residing in the neighborhood. The Singapore Botanic Gardens are located here and offer a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. The popular area Dempsey Hill is nearby, offering a great spot to enjoy dinner, or shop for furniture and art, up close to Singapore’s greenery.
Public transport is lacking in the area, with no MRT station located nearby. Botanic Gardens is the only one, and this is considered to be on the very edge of the Tanglin area. There are bus services, but these can be patchy. It’s a quiet neighborhood, so there isn’t much in the way of nightlife in the area.
There are a lot of beautiful landed properties and bungalows in Tanglin, with large square footage and leafy gardens, but with large price tags to match. Many of Singapore’s affluent residents live in the area. If you are looking for condo living, the best place to find them is over towards Orchard, where there is a selection of older low-rise and some newer high-rise blocks.
Living in one of Singapore’s most affluent neighborhoods means safety and security are higher here than anywhere else on the island (and that’s saying something!). The area offers a lot of greenery so enjoy your morning yoga practice in the Botanic Gardens, before heading to Dempsey Hill for a refuel and a potter around the shops.
